Our Story

Ergo Rehab was founded in July of 2000 as a premier outpatient physical therapy clinic with a focus on industrial rehabilitation.

As demand for our services grew, Ergo opened a second location in the summer of 2002 in the Southwest area and expanded treatment services beyond industrial therapy to include commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. With demand continuing to grow, we opened our third location in Southeast Houston in 2006, and in 2008 we opened our fourth location on-site at a large Houston employer to serve their employees and families. In 2012, we recognized a demand for our services in the Northwest area of town and opened a clinic in Tomball. Finally, in 2015 we expanded our services by purchasing Hope Rehab, an existing clinic in the Cypress area.

In 2022, Ergo Rehab entered into a joint venture with Upstream Rehabilitation, the largest provider of outpatient physical therapy clinics in the nation. We continued to offer our full range of exceptional services until the end of 2024, when the three founding members decided to go in a new direction.

Ergo Rehab is now exclusively a testing center, offering Functional Capacity Evaluations, Federal and State Impairment Ratings, and Pre-Employment Testing. We continue to provide the same exceptional service to injured workers and other stakeholders that we have since our founding in 2000.

Our Team

Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. After graduation, Steve went to work in Real Estate Development where he had complete control over 23 commercial properties including commercial building, retail centers, and multi-family properties. He then accepted the Vice Presidency of a Texas bank where he was directly responsible for over $300 million of foreclosed real estate and a staff of 24 employees.

After the birth of his first child, Steve decided to make a career change and received his Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Women’s University in the Houston Medical Center. After successfully managing an industrial-based rehabilitation clinic for several years, Steve co-founded Ergo Rehab in 2000. Steve has extensive experience as a clinical therapist treating orthopedic related injuries as well as performing Functional Capacity Evaluations and directing return-to-work programs. Steve was integral in helping Ergo Rehab achieve CARF accreditation for its return-to-work programs and served as a CARF surveyor for several years.

Steve’s role with Ergo Rehab has changed many times through the years. He still enjoys spending time in the clinic as well as overseeing all Finances, compliance, and business affairs for Ergo Rehab. He currently lives in the Cypress area with his wife of 37 years.

Danielle Yassall graduated from Medical College of Ohio with a BS in physical therapy. Following graduation, she worked at a prestigious rehabilitation hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where her focus of treatment was traumatic brain injury and joint replacement.

After relocating to the Houston area in 1996, Danielle began working in an industrial outpatient setting. There she learned how to perform FCE’s and impairment ratings as well as develop direct comprehensive work hardening, work conditioning and pain management programs. In 2000, she co-founded Ergonomic Rehabilitation of Houston, LLC.

Danielle continues to work as the lead clinician at the Ergo Rehab testing center, performing FCE’s, impairment ratings, and pre-employment screens. She also contributes to company development and marketing as well as maintaining a close relationship with case managers and adjusters.

Danielle currently resides in the Katy area with her husband and two children.

Her core philosophy is to treat all stakeholders with unrivaled service and quality care resulting in continued satisfaction and successful growth.

Why Ergo?

At Ergo Rehab, our mission is simple: to help people get back to work safely, confidently, and with clarity. We believe in doing the right thing—for patients, providers, and payors—every time.

We value:

  • Accuracy, because decisions matter

  • Efficiency, because time is critical

  • Compassion, because recovery isn’t just physical

  • Teamwork, because no one gets there alone

We’re a family-founded clinic that treats everyone with respect and professionalism—whether you’re walking in the door or sending a referral.

Ergo Rehab was built on a handshake mindset and a high-standard work ethic. Our founders—Steve, Danielle, and Sherri—believe in showing up, doing the work well, and standing behind it.

We’re hands-on in every sense of the word. That means our leadership is present, our phones get answered, and our processes reflect real clinical insight—not corporate shortcuts. We believe great care happens when trust, skill, and communication work together.
